Tools and solutions

Help the metropolitan communities become more climate resilient, by co-producing knowledge-based tools.

Living Labs

Living Labs (LLs) are participatory research environments that, in the context of the CARMINE project bring together diverse stakeholders to address climate challenges in metropolitan areas. In the CARMINE project, LLs are used to gather data and collaborate with local communities to co-design climate Adaptation and Mitigation (A&M) pathways. By identifying knowledge gaps, climate risks, and local needs, the project aims to strengthen resilience and support long-term adaptation. CARMINE is establishing eight Living Labs, supported by a Stakeholder Community Hub (SC-HUB) as a tool to support collaboration and stakeholder interactions. Stakeholders, including vulnerable groups, are identified through a step-wise stakeholder mapping process, as their involvement is crucial for shaping the project’s outcomes. CARMINE stakeholder engagement strategy is built around three rounds of Living Lab participatory workshops.

Stakeholder Community Hub

The Stakeholder Community Hub (SC-HUB) is a web application that facilitates and organises the participatory and co-development processes withing the Living Labs. It supports the creation of digital representations of the LLs, facilitating the exchange of information and the active collaboration among the LL’s stakeholders, while making publicly available the work and results of each LL ensuring their adoption and acceptance. The SC-HUB will offer 8 digital instances, one for each CARMINE Living Lab.

Atlas of Climate Resilience

Co-developed interactive GIS-based open toolbox for spatial and temporal analyses of cost-effective adaptation measures and risk transfer solutions.

Digital Twins

Development, testing and cross-validation of 8 Digital Twins, or “Climate Replicas”, addressing climate challenges specific to each Case Study Areas: Flood Risk, New pattern of metropolitan governance, Wildfire risk, Urban fragilities, Heat Health Risk, Vegetation Planning, Well-being risks enhanced and Water Scarcity.

Impact-Based Decision Support Services

Operational service for metropolitan decision-makers, providing interactive access to data, information and tools to support the adaptive capacity in CSAs, co-designed and co-developed in synergy with the C-A platform. Built on the data and knowledge of local stakeholders, outcomes of the physical risk modelling, climate risk assessments and interactive tool for climate resilience and DT-based tools.
