The new digital twin DT-HEAT+ is now live. The platform can be accessed here: https://destinationearth.sense-noa.gr/dt-heat/dashboard
The DT-HEAT+ tool uses digital twin technology to strengthen resilience against extreme heat events in metropolitan areas. Using machine learning, environmental data and a wide range of indicators, the solution provides same-day forecasts of heat-related mortality risk, enhancing emergency response and building community awareness of best practices.
Users can register for free with their name, email and a password they create. In this current initial version operating for demonstration purposes, users can explore live relative mortality risks for the metropolitan areas of Athens, Greece; Prague, Czech Republic; London, UK; and Bucharest, Romania. The technology analyses data from twenty years to project short-term heat-related mortality risk for each city. A 5-year summer analysis is also available for each city with an indication of where today’s risk and temperature lie.

Anyone who is interested can stay tuned for more to come as additional cities, tools, maps, impact, policies and projections are added.
Iphigenia Keramitsoglou announced the launch of DT-HEAT+ during the online event Beating the Heat: Resilient Response at Two Speeds. This online webinar is part of the Resilient Cities Network’s Cities on the Frontline Speaker Series. A recording of the event, including the presentation of DT-HEAT+ and other digital data-based tools for heat resilience in Athens, is available.
DT-HEAT+ is also available on the Destination Earth (DestinE) Platform!
This achievement marks the beginning of an exciting journey, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and EUMETSAT. Bringing DT-HEAT+ to the DestinE community provides stakeholders with timely, actionable intelligence on heat-related mortality risk. This is part of a partnership between NOA and the DestinE platform announced earlier this year.
